CAIRO, May 12 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met here on Tuesday with guests attending the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum Chinese-Arab Partnership Conference, calling for deepening practical cooperation between Chinese and Arab media and think tanks.
Fu said that China and Arab countries including Egypt are key members of the Global South and share a common responsibility to promote peace and stability, achieve development and revitalization, and steer the global governance system toward a more just and equitable direction.
He noted that in today's turbulent and ever-changing world, it is more important than ever for Chinese and Arab media outlets and think tanks to uphold rationality, build consensus, and contribute constructive strength.
Xinhua is willing to work hand in hand with all parties, taking the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum Chinese-Arab Partnership Conference as an opportunity to foster mutual understanding, build trust, and jointly promote practical cooperation between Chinese and Arab media outlets and think tanks, thereby deepening and consolidating China-Arab friendship and cooperation, said the Xinhua president.
Alaa Youssef, chairman of the board of the Egyptian State Information Service, and other guests noted that the convening of this conference reflects China's strong commitment to deepening China-Arab friendship.
They expressed confidence that the conference will strengthen solidarity and cooperation between Chinese and Arab media and think tanks, further deepen the traditional friendship and people-to-people bonds between China and Arab countries, and make the resounding voice of the Global South heard in the international community more clearly.
The Global South Media and Think Tank Forum Chinese-Arab Partnership Conference opened on Tuesday at the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The two-day event, under the theme "Pooling Wisdom, Embarking on a New Journey: Jointly Building a China-Arab Community with a Shared Future," gathers about 250 representatives from around 110 media outlets, think tanks, government institutions, enterprises from China and Arab countries, as well as from international and regional organizations.
