(260221) -- ASWAN, Feb. 21, 2026 (Xinhua) -- People visit the Philae Temple complex in Aswan, Egypt, Feb. 21, 2026. Built mainly during the Ptolemaic period and dedicated to the goddess Isis, the Philae Temple complex's structures feature floral capitals, hieroglyph-covered walls, and reliefs of ancient deities.

The temples were submerged because of the construction of Aswan Low Dam in early 1900s and the later construction of Aswan High Dam in the 1960s. And it was relocated, piece by piece, from Philae Island to the higher Agilkia Island decades ago as part of a UNESCO-led campaign to save it from flooding. (Xinhua/Xin Mengchen)
