Egypt's candidate elected UNESCO Director-General

CAIRO, 6th October, 2025 (WAM) -- The Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) today elected the Egyptian candidate, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, as the organisation's Director-General.

Dr. El-Enany secured a strong majority, receiving 55 votes out of 57 member states. He thus becomes the first Egyptian to assume the leadership of UNESCO.
