KHARTOUM -- Sudan on Thursday welcomed the UN Security Council (UNSC) presidential statement calling for resumption of the tripartite talks on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
On Wednesday, the UNSC adopted a presidential statement encouraging Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia to resume talks at the invitation of the chairperson of the African Union (AU) to reach a binding deal on filling and operating of the GERD. (Sudan-Nile Dam-UN-African Union)
CAIRO -- Egypt and Libya's unity government signed 14 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and six infrastructure contracts on Thursday, according to a statement from Egypt's cabinet.
The cooperation agreements were signed during a visit by Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, who is heading a 30-minister delegation in Cairo to participate in the meetings of the Egyptian-Libyan Joint Higher Committee. (Egypt-Libya-MoUs-Contracts)
TEHRAN -- Iran is ready to boost cooperation, particularly in the economic field, with regional countries, especially within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday.
Raisi made the remarks during his meetings on Thursday with some heads of states during a visit to Tajikistan to attend the SCO summit, according to the Iranian presidential website. (Iran-SCO-Cooperation)
JERUSALEM -- The third vaccine dose against COVID-19 increases the immune protection from infection tenfold, the Israeli Ministry of Health said on Thursday.
The ministry said that a new Israeli study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, examined the effectiveness of the third dose among those over the age of 60, who received the booster shot in August.
